Gemstone Quiz

Moonstone

Like a bluish glow that drifts each time the stone is tilted, you shine softly from within.

A soft glowShifts as you lookGrown together

Moonstone belongs to the feldspar family of minerals. Inside the half-translucent stone, a bluish-white glow seems to float, and because that glow resembles moonlight, it's called by this name.

This glow comes from two kinds of feldspar with slightly different properties, stacked in alternating, extremely thin layers. Light entering the layers scatters, and when you tilt the stone, the floating glow moves along with it. You, too, overlap with the people around you and quietly change how you shine to suit the moment.

The floating glow appears and disappears depending on the angle. Since you offer your opinions to suit the mood of the room, people may think you said something different on another day with the same group. Adding a word about why your light moved makes it easier for others to follow it.

Strengths

  • You can read the room and join a conversation at just the right brightness
  • You can step in between people and soften a conversation that was about to clash
  • In a gathering, you quietly keep an eye on anyone who can't find a way into the conversation

Where you may stumble

  • What you say shifts a little from one gathering to the next, and people check with you which you meant
  • At lively gatherings, it ends without you ever finding the moment to join in
  • Even for errands that are just yours, you try to check everyone else's plans first, and they get put off

Sounds familiar, Moonstone?

Where you shine

Small, calm get-togethers, or discussions where opinions are about to clash. You move your light to suit the room, so the mood tends to soften.

Easy together

Pearl — Pearl's luster and Moonstone's floating glow both come from thin layers stacked together. Neither sparkles strongly; both glow from within, so side by side, neither puts out the other's light.

Easy together

Diamond — Diamond also changes how it shines to suit the people and the room. Diamond shines clearly outward while Moonstone quietly moves its light within, so you can share the job of brightening the room.

May clash

Ruby — Moonstone's glow appears and disappears as you change the angle. Ruby is red from every angle. Your speeds at settling things don't match easily, so when you decide something together, Moonstone tends to feel “We're deciding already?” and Ruby “We're still not deciding?”
