Four Elements Quiz compatibility chart
For each of the 4 elements, two that are easy to be with and one that may clash. A clash does not mean either side is wrong — they simply value different things.
Air
- Easy together Fire Fire runs hot too. When Air blows, Fire grows bigger; when Fire burns, warm air rises. You both move with energy, so there's no struggle to match each other's speed.
- Easy together Water Water also changes shape to flow with things. When Air brushes across Water, waves rise, and Water gives moisture back to the air. You can both change direction easily, so even when plans change, you can laugh and go along with each other.
- May clash Earth Earth stays calm and wants to keep its own shape. You're opposites in both heat and shape, so when Air keeps bringing in new directions, Earth feels the ground shifting underfoot, and Air feels stopped in its tracks.
Fire
- Easy together Air Air runs hot too. When air blows in, a fire burns stronger. You can move at the same heat, and Air changes direction for Fire, who cares about keeping its shape, so you move forward without colliding.
- Easy together Earth Earth also keeps its own shape. Even a fire burning too hot can turn into a hearth that burns for a long time when it's ringed with earth. Neither of you bends at the core, so you can both keep the promises you make to each other.
- May clash Water Water stays calm and changes shape to fit its surroundings. You're opposites in both hot and cold and wet and dry, so when Water puts the brakes on Fire's momentum, Fire feels doused, and Water feels as if it's suddenly been brought to the boil.
Water
- Easy together Air Air also changes shape to flow with things. When Water becomes cloud, Air carries it along, and in time it falls back to the ground as rain. Neither of you minds change, so even if the destination shifts, you can enjoy it together.
- Easy together Earth Earth builds banks along the path where Water flows. Even Water, with no shape of its own, becomes a river with banks of earth and can flow a long way without losing its course.
- May clash Fire Fire wants to go straight ahead, burning hot, as soon as an idea strikes. When Water, who wants to flow with its surroundings, says, “Let's see how everyone feels first,” it looks to Fire like stalling — and to Water, Fire's speed seems to decide the current before anyone else can.
Earth
- Easy together Fire Fire burns hot and gets things moving. Earth on its own just stays hard, but fired in a kiln it becomes pottery or brick. With Fire's heat, Earth's steadiness takes shape.
- Easy together Water Water keeps a calm temperature too. When Water soaks into dry Earth, shoots start to grow. Neither of you is in a hurry, so you can stay together at the same pace for a long time.
- May clash Air Air wants to change direction the moment an idea strikes. When Earth says, “Let's do it the usual way,” Air feels it's hit a wall, while Earth is left puzzled that what was decided yesterday has already changed.
