Animals that move fast, alone

Squirrel

You stash nuts all over for the winter — your preparations are quiet and quick.

On my ownQuickCautiousKeep it inside

The Japanese squirrel lives alone, and in autumn it buries nuts a few at a time in many spots on the ground to get ready for winter. Even while eating, it stops again and again to check its surroundings, and if it senses danger it's up a tree in a flash.

You take care of your own things, and you prepare ahead. If the forecast says “cloudy, with occasional rain,” you head out with a folding umbrella at the bottom of your bag. You're efficient and deal with likely problems in advance, but you don't often tell anyone about your preparations.

Nuts that a squirrel buries and forgets eventually sprout and help the forest grow. In your bag or drawers, too, there are bandages and loose change you put away for someday, and when someone runs into trouble, they suddenly get their moment.

Strengths

  • You think ahead about what might go wrong, and prepare quickly
  • You can decide on your own and get things done on your own, fast
  • You watch your surroundings closely and don't fall for risky deals

Where you may stumble

  • Since you prepare on your own, others may end up preparing the same things twice
  • Your hiding spots multiply until even you forget what's where
  • You act without consulting anyone, and hear, “You could have told me”

Sounds familiar, Squirrel?

Where you shine

The moment a small “Oh no” happens — a sudden change in the weather, something left behind. What you prepared earlier comes right out.
