Dog Breed Quiz
Labrador Retriever
When someone calls, you'll run to anyone and bring back whatever they asked for.
The Labrador Retriever is said to come from dogs that helped fishermen on the coast of Canada, and to have been developed as a hunting dog in Britain. Its job was to swim out and fetch waterbirds that had been shot down. “Retriever” simply means “one that fetches.”
Today, Labradors also work in large numbers as guide dogs for people who are blind and as assistance dogs for people with disabilities. When someone asks for something, whoever they are, your body moves first — you run off and come back with it done.
Because the joy of bringing something back is so big, when requests pile up you tend to try to run after every one of them. Chasing everything that gets thrown, you can lose track of where your own post was. Decide first which one thing you'll go fetch today, and moving gets easier.
Strengths
- You can get started on a request right away, whoever it's from
- Even in a room full of strangers, you can be the one to go up to people
- While you're moving around, you notice where more hands are needed
Where you may stumble

- You hurry to help, and find you've stepped into things nobody asked you to do yet

Border Collie — The Border Collie is another breed that runs on a signal. While the Labrador dashes off at anyone's request, the Border Collie waits for a signal from one particular person. You start moving for different reasons, but you both understand the fun of running to get a job done.
Saint Bernard — Like you, the Saint Bernard has a history of helping people. Put the Labrador, who runs off to fetch things, beside the Saint Bernard, who stays put and welcomes people in, and the roles of going out and waiting split naturally.
Chihuahua — Even when the Labrador says “Let's go together,” the Chihuahua doesn't want to leave its favorite spot. The Labrador wants to run off toward a job, the Chihuahua wants to relax in its own place, and your ideas of how to spend the same day tend to pass each other by.
