Night Sky Quiz
Pleiades
Small stars huddled close together, you sparkle as one cluster in your usual place.
The Pleiades are a cluster of stars in the constellation Taurus; in Japan they're known as Subaru. To the naked eye you can see six or seven small stars gathered in one clump. None of them is very bright on its own, but together they have caught people's eyes since ancient times.
In The Pillow Book, written about a thousand years ago, Sei Shonagon wrote, “Of stars, the Pleiades.” The name Subaru is said to come from an old Japanese word meaning “to gather into one.” Your place is with familiar friends in a familiar spot, shining gently within the circle.
The stars of the Pleiades were born at roughly the same time. The comfort of being among friends who understand you is your great strength — but to people outside the circle, it can look like a group that's hard to join. Call out to someone beyond the circle now and then, and the Pleiades will look a little bigger.

Orion — Orion is a winter constellation that rises in the east as if following the Pleiades. A reassuring friend shining alongside you in the same season.
Saturn — You both shine modestly and alongside others. The news from outside that Saturn slowly brings lets just the right breeze into your circle.
Moon — With a bright Moon nearby, the faint stars of the Pleiades are hard to see. Sometimes the Moon even passes in front of them and hides them from view. Your ways of shining are so different that in the same place, one of you tends to disappear.
