Past-Life Job Quiz
Bard
You carry songs from town to town, light up the faces of everyone who listens, then head for the next town.
In medieval Europe, bards and minstrels traveled from castle to town with their poems and songs, performing for the people they met. Japan had its own wandering storytellers too: the biwa hoshi, blind performers who went from place to place with a lute-like biwa, reciting tales such as The Tale of the Heike.
If that was your job in a past life, some of the urge to head somewhere new and offer something to the people you meet is surely still with you. You do your best not when you stay among the same faces, but when you talk to or make something for people you're meeting for the first time.
Songs and stories passed on by mouth change shape a little every time they're told. You're good at taking a story you heard, reshaping it in your own way, and carrying it somewhere else. Because of that, a promise to keep doing the same thing in one place for a long time can feel a little confining.
Strengths
- You can share a story or something you've made, even in front of people you've just met
- You can retell what you heard in your own words, so it's easy to follow
- You can change your act to suit the mood of the room
Where you may stumble
- In stretches where you repeat the same thing in the same place, your motivation fades
- In front of an audience that doesn't react much, you can't find your rhythm
- Your heart moves on to the next place while you're still holding half-finished work
Sounds familiar, Bard?
- You tell the story of where you went, again and again, after you get home
- Your humming turns, before you know it, into a made-up song of your own
- You don't mean to exaggerate, yet the same story gets a bit funnier every time you tell it
Where you shine
Entertainment at a get-together, rooms full of strangers, and the job of telling people about something that happened far away.

Scribe — A Scribe preserves what's written, exactly. They give the stories the Bard spread far and wide a form that won't fade.
Peddler — A Peddler also meets people on the road. You can trade news about the towns ahead and make good traveling companions.
Tailor — A Tailor wants to take time and make each thing to fit one person. The speed of a Bard who changes the song on the spot and moves on can look careless to them.
