Dinosaur Quiz
Spinosaurus
Like a Spinosaurus waiting by the water with its great sail raised, you hold your position until the right moment comes.
Spinosaurus was a large meat-eating dinosaur that lived in what is now North Africa in the middle of the Cretaceous. On its back was a big sail made of long spines of bone. It's said to have been about 15 meters (50 feet) long. The first fossils found were destroyed in an air raid during World War II, so for a long time little was known about what it looked like.
Its snout was long and narrow like a crocodile's, and its teeth were cone-shaped, which is thought to have suited catching fish. One theory says it swam after fish, another that it stood in shallow water waiting for fish to come close, and research continues. In the same way, you narrow your sights to one target and settle in to wait for your chance.
There are several theories about what the sail was for, including display and controlling body temperature. Because you wait with a striking sail raised, people notice you even while you're waiting. Once you've decided to wait, telling the people around you “Now's the time to wait” keeps them from hurrying you.

Pteranodon — Pteranodon is also thought to have caught fish and also zeroes in on a target. Spinosaurus waits at the water's edge while Pteranodon swoops down fast from the sky, so even with the same goal they approach it differently and have a lot to learn from each other.
Brachiosaurus — Brachiosaurus also stands its ground and takes its time. It never hurries anyone who's waiting, so Spinosaurus can hold its position at its own pace.
Gallimimus — Gallimimus is unadorned, light on its feet, and nibbles a little of everything here and there. Spinosaurus settles in to wait for one chance, while Gallimimus dashes toward whatever catches its eye. They spend the same stretch of time in completely different ways, and together, one of them tends to get tired of waiting.
