Bounce-Back Quiz compatibility chart

For each of the 4 ways of bouncing back, two that are easy to be with and one that may clash. A clash does not mean either side is wrong — they simply value different things.

Dandelion

  • Easy together Willow The Willow is also quick to move on. Neither of you dwells for long, so even when plans fall apart, you can move on together. The trick is to leave the Willow be while it's settling itself.
  • Easy together Moss Moss also recovers by talking with others. The Dandelion talks lively and Moss listens patiently. With an unhurried listener, you can sort out your own feelings as you talk.
  • May clash Pine The Pine wants to take its time and settle its feelings on its own. The Dandelion's “You'll feel better if you talk about it” can sound to the Pine like knocking on the door before it's ready.

Willow

  • Easy together Dandelion Listening to the Dandelion's lively stories of its blunders, the Willow can mention its own slip-ups lightly too. You recover in different ways, but by the next day you've both started on something new.
  • Easy together Pine The Pine also settles itself alone. You each know when the other wants to be left alone, so neither of you pries or gets pried open.
  • May clash Moss Moss wants to take time to absorb things while talking them over. The Willow's lightness — “That's done with” — can feel to Moss like a conversation cut off halfway.

Moss

  • Easy together Dandelion The Dandelion loves both talking and listening. Even when Moss starts talking slowly, the Dandelion takes it in brightly, which makes hard things easier to say.
  • Easy together Pine The Pine also takes time to absorb things. Neither of you is in a hurry, so you never compare how fast you recover. A few words the Pine has thought through carefully land well with Moss.
  • May clash Willow The Willow wants to bounce back quickly, on its own. By the time Moss says, “Could you hear me out?”, the Willow has already moved on, so you tend to miss each other.

Pine

  • Easy together Willow The Willow also settles itself on its own. You both know when the other wants to be left alone, so there's no need to tiptoe around each other. Watching the Willow's lightness helps the Pine loosen up a little, too.
  • Easy together Moss Moss also takes time to absorb things. It's an unhurried listener, so even when the Pine talks only after sorting out its thoughts, Moss listens quietly to the very end.
  • May clash Dandelion The Dandelion reaches out with “You'll feel better if you talk about it.” Being invited before its thoughts have come together can feel to the Pine like having its roots tugged at.

It is more fun once you know which one you are. 12 questions, about 2 minutes.
