Dessert Quiz
Cookie
Like cookies baked from one dense dough and packed in a tin, you have plenty set aside to enjoy later.
Cookies are small baked treats made from a dough of flour, butter, sugar and so on. The name is said to come from a Dutch word meaning “little cake.” The dough is cut out with cutters or dropped from a spoon, then baked in the oven.
Unlike fluffy cakes, cookies are made from a dense dough baked until much of the moisture is gone. That's why they keep well and can be packed snugly into tins or boxes, to be eaten a few at a time or given to others. In the same way, you pack one thing in tight and have it ready well ahead.
Cut with the same cutter, every cookie comes out the same shape. Since you keep your usual things, in the usual amounts, stocked well ahead, you don't panic when something is suddenly needed. But because your supplies are always full, there's little room left to try anything new. Every so often, try emptying the tin and packing it again.
Strengths
- You can keep what's needed properly stocked well ahead
- You can repeat one way of doing things, consistently
- You can pack things in tight and use limited space without waste
Where you may stumble
- Your stockpile fills every space, leaving no room to try something new
- Your packed schedule has no gaps for anything sudden
- You prepare too much for later, and things go stale before you use them up
Sounds familiar, Cookie?
- There are always at least three packs of tissues in your bag
- You've finished packing for a trip three days before you leave
- On Sunday night, you decide on a whole week of outfits
Where you shine
Getting ready well in advance, or making the most of limited space or time. When something's suddenly needed, you can often pull it right out for someone.
Tips for “Cookie”

Baumkuchen — Baumkuchen is also a dense, long-keeping bake. They share the urge to prepare for the future, so they understand each other quickly. Baumkuchen, building up layers, shows Cookie, who tends to stick with one way of doing things, the fun of combining.
Purin (Japanese Custard Pudding) — Purin is also a single batter set with no gaps. Their idea of a filling is similar, and Purin, eaten the same day, shows Cookie, who is always stocking up for later, how to make room to enjoy today.
Strawberry Shortcake — Strawberry Shortcake layers fluffy sponge and is eaten the same day. To Cookie, who wants everything properly ready well ahead, Shortcake's light, enjoy-today approach looks worrying, while to Shortcake, Cookie seems to prepare far too much.
