Tool Quiz compatibility chart

For each of the 16 tools, two that are easy to be with and one that may clash. A clash does not mean either side is wrong — they simply value different things.

Baton

  • Easy together Wind Chime The Wind Chime picks up the mood in the room. While you're focused on the plan, it can tell you, “Everyone's getting a bit tired.”
  • Easy together Microscope The Microscope is good at checking details. It fills the small gaps in supplies and timing that you can miss while conducting the whole.
  • May clash Drill The Drill wants to bore into one chosen spot at its own pace. Next to a Baton who wants everyone in step, the speeds rarely match.

Lighthouse

  • Easy together Kaleidoscope The Kaleidoscope keeps bringing in new scenery. It carries news of the changing world outside to a Lighthouse that can't leave its post.
  • Easy together Calendar The Calendar also values a steady rhythm. It helps keep the routines and promises you want to maintain, at the same pace you do.
  • May clash Fishing Rod The Fishing Rod likes to wait as long as it feels like waiting. Fitting into your fixed rhythm can feel confining to it.

Drum

  • Easy together Bookshelf The Bookshelf is good at organizing information and keeping it. It turns what you started into something that can be used again.
  • Easy together Umbrella The Umbrella prepares ahead of time. It quietly brings along whatever your momentum forgot to pack.
  • May clash Compass The Compass values the direction it has chosen. Your changes of course based on “how it feels right now” can look careless to a Compass.

Torch

  • Easy together Bookshelf The Bookshelf calmly keeps its knowledge in order. Like a map, it shows you the far-off paths your flame can't reach.
  • Easy together Compass The Compass never loses its bearing. It adds a sure sense of direction to your momentum.
  • May clash Microscope The Microscope wants to check before it moves. Your “act first” can look sloppy to a Microscope, while from your side the Microscope can look overly cautious.

Map

  • Easy together Fishing Rod The Fishing Rod can wait patiently in one chosen spot. Where you point and say “This looks promising,” it settles in and gets results.
  • Easy together Drill The Drill bores straight through to a single point. It opens the shortest path to the destination you found.
  • May clash Hot-Water Bottle The Hot-Water Bottle cares about the feelings of the person in front of it. Your “this is right for the whole picture” can sound cold to it.

Compass

  • Easy together Wind Chime The Wind Chime picks up on how people feel. It turns what you know is right into words that reach people.
  • Easy together Torch The Torch gets moving right away. It actually takes the first step in the direction you pointed.
  • May clash Drum The Drum changes direction with the energy of the moment. To a Compass, that can look like movement without any standard.

Multi-tool

  • Easy together Microscope The Microscope checks one thing in fine detail. It finds the rough spots in what you made quickly, before it goes out.
  • Easy together Kaleidoscope The Kaleidoscope comes up with one new idea after another. You can turn those ideas into something to try right away with whatever's at hand.
  • May clash Umbrella The Umbrella wants to be prepared ahead of time. A Multi-tool that moves before preparing tends to look risky from where the Umbrella stands.

Drill

  • Easy together Calendar The Calendar keeps plans and people in order. It remembers the commitments you tend to forget when you're absorbed.
  • Easy together Map The Map sees the whole picture. It shows you where to drill to make the most difference.
  • May clash Baton The Baton wants everyone moving in step. Your “I want to dig at my own pace” rarely matches its tempo.

Calendar

  • Easy together Drill The Drill, focused on one point, can dig deeper than anyone else. If you take care of the day-to-day schedule, that strength can come out in full.
  • Easy together Hot-Water Bottle The Hot-Water Bottle is also a tool that supports people. In the gaps between the plans you arrange, it gives you time to talk slowly.
  • May clash Multi-tool The Multi-tool moves on the spot without setting plans. To a Calendar, it can look like someone you can never find a slot for.

Umbrella

  • Easy together Drum The Drum rushes out on momentum. With you around, the Drum can head out into the rain without worry.
  • Easy together Map The Map shows the whole lay of the land. It turns your worries into a clear sense of where to prepare.
  • May clash Multi-tool The Multi-tool jumps in before preparing and figures things out on the spot. For an Umbrella that wants to be ready, watching that can be nerve-racking.

Wind Chime

  • Easy together Compass The Compass holds steady standards. When you're unsure, it's a dependable landmark.
  • Easy together Baton The Baton sets the plan and you put everyone at ease. Together, you make a gathering run at its best.
  • May clash Microscope The Microscope wants to focus quietly on one thing. Your light, chatty check-ins can feel to it like interruptions to its concentration.

Hot-Water Bottle

  • Easy together Torch The Torch rushes to anyone in trouble. Afterward, you can stay and sit beside them, so the help doesn't end with one visit.
  • Easy together Fishing Rod The Fishing Rod can share time in silence. With you, who never rushes anyone, even not talking doesn't feel awkward.
  • May clash Map The Map says what's right for the whole picture. To a Hot-Water Bottle, that can feel like the feelings in front of it are being left behind.

Bookshelf

  • Easy together Drum The Drum gets people moving while you hold up the content. Together you make projects that amount to more than a burst of energy.
  • Easy together Lighthouse The Lighthouse also treasures things over the long run. It puts the knowledge you've shelved to use when people close to it come for advice.
  • May clash Drill While the Drill bores into one spot, it doesn't care about the shavings. To a Bookshelf it can look like it's making a mess as it goes, which grates against your wish to keep things neatly in order.

Microscope

  • Easy together Multi-tool The Multi-tool makes things quickly. When you check its work, the result is both fast and accurate.
  • Easy together Baton The Baton sets the overall flow, so you can focus on the details of your own part.
  • May clash Wind Chime The Wind Chime changes the subject to match the mood of the moment. For a Microscope, it can feel like the slide gets moved every time you bring it into focus.

Kaleidoscope

  • Easy together Lighthouse The Lighthouse stays in one place and keeps shining. However far you wander, it's the landmark that shows you the way home.
  • Easy together Umbrella The Umbrella prepares ahead for you. With it nearby, you can enjoy your detours without worrying about the rain.
  • May clash Calendar The Calendar wants to keep agreed plans running reliably. Your spur-of-the-moment changes of plan can weigh on it.

Fishing Rod

  • Easy together Hot-Water Bottle The Hot-Water Bottle never rushes anyone. Even when your replies take a while, you can talk calmly with it.
  • Easy together Multi-tool The Multi-tool handles all the little errands on the spot. With it around, you can wait on one thing without worry.
  • May clash Lighthouse The Lighthouse values a fixed rhythm. Your “wait until it comes” doesn't fit neatly into its cycle.

It is more fun once you know which one you are. 24 questions, about 4 minutes.
